Product Review: Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

Hi lovlies! So I know I am a bit behind on this review, but I only recently got my hands on this popular makeup remover and wanted to test it out for a few weeks before giving it my final thoughts.

Clinique is one of my favorite brands for skin care as its formulas are generally simple and great for people with sensitive skin. Similarly, this balm is fragrance free. You get 3.8 oz of product (enough to last a few months) for the price of $29. The texture of the balm is very similar to slightly melted candle wax. While rubbing the product in-between your hands to soften it, you are left with a silky, non-greasy, non-drying formula that takes off all your makeup.

As far as how thorough this cleanses, I find that one scoop is enough to lather my entire face. However, on heavy makeup days, it can be hard to get stubborn mascara off the eyelashes. It is important to gently focus your attention on this location to ensure all of your makeup is off. Do not forcefully rub your eyes as you can cause early wrinkles! To be completely honest, I prefer my Lancome Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover on nights that I have on a heavy eye look.

After cleansing with the balm, I still go in with my Chanel Mousse Douceur foaming cleanser that I have been using for years. It leaves my skin moisturized and ensures I got all the dirt off from the day. My final thoughts on the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm is that its a winner! The simple formula leaves my skin feeling moisturized but not greasy, and a little goes a long way!

Have you tried out this product? What do you think of cleansing balms?

Until next time,

  1. Yes, I love this stuff! I use it also as the first step in my double cleanse routine. It really does help remove makeup all the way. I hate seeing makeup residue on my towel after I think my face is clean…

  2. Hello! I love this post and I’ve been on the fence about trying this balm for a while now. I ended up buying a different one from NYX. Have you tried other melting balms, and if so, what do you think of them? instead of this I bought the cleansing milk from clinique. Have you tried that one, and how does it hold up to the balm?

    1. Hi Michelle! Thanks for stopping by. This is the first cleansing balm I have tried out so I do not have anything to compare it to. The review describes my thoughts on the product though! Enjoy ❀️
